Peace Hills EMS commenced operation on January 1st, 2000. It is contracted by Alberta Health Services as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance service, and meets and exceeds all the requirements of the Ambulance Service Act.

There are 4 ALS ambulances in the Wetaskiwin area, which are staffed with one Paramedic and one EMT, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are 2 staffed ambulance stations, one in the city of Wetaskiwin and the second at Pigeon Lake. Our Paramedics and EMTs work together to provide the most efficient and effective pre-hospital care available in the shortest time possible. Peace Hills EMS strives to keep up with new advancements in EMS that allows for above standard patient care. The staff, of Peace Hills EMS, works closely with the Wetaskiwin Hospital Emergency Department to ensure that the transition from pre-hospital care to hospital care is smooth and efficient.

Peace Hills EMS is involved with local community groups and schools to educate the citizens of Wetaskiwin and area in injury prevention and the importance of accessing Emergency Medical Services. We also work closely with the local Fire Departments and R.C.M.P. by participating in integrated training to enhance our services to the community.

Peace Hills EMS Billing

Under current Alberta Legislation, fees for ambulance service are the responsibility of the patient. Peace Hills EMS recognizes that unexpected costs, such as ambulance service, are difficult especially when compounded by illness or injury. These costs can be overwhelming.

If you do not have coverage through one of the following agencies a bill will be sent to your address and you will be liable for the costs. Peace Hills EMS strongly encourages every one without coverage to obtain insurance to cover unexpected medical expenses.

Peace Hills EMS can bill a number of agencies directly, they are:

  • Alberta School Employees Benefit Plan
  • Social Services
  • AISH
  • First Nations (Health Canada)
  • Alberta Blue Cross
